The Rev. Kyle Dice Seage, a 1996 graduate of Seminary of the Southwest (SSW), and now Interim Rector at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Jackson, is one of two graduates selected to receive the annual Hal Brook Perry Distinguished Alumni Award for 2011.
The award will be presented on September 20 in conjunction with the 2011 Blandy Lectures and Convocation held on the SSW campus in Austin, TX.
The Hal Brook Perry Award is conferred upon a graduate of Seminary of the Southwest who exemplifies exceptional ministry to parishes, dioceses, and/or specific communities or ministries – locally, regional, or worldwide. Nominations are encouraged to recognize servant ministries characterized especially by faithfulness through service, education & formation, and the building up of the church and its people – and not simply to highlight a noteworthy achievement. In the spirit of the Rev. Hal Brook Perry, emphasis is given to quiet, competent and diligent service that might otherwise go unnoticed by the larger church and the world.
Seage has served in several Mississippi parishes and missions including: St. John’s, Pascagoula; Christ Church, Bay St. Louis; and All Saints’, Inverness. Bishop Gray appointed Seage as Interim Rector at St. Philip’s in September, 2010.
Kyle also directed the national campaign, Darkness Into Day, which raised funds in the wake of Hurricane Katrina that were used to rebuild destroyed churches in the Diocese of Mississippi as well as to assist rebuilding efforts in the Diocese of Louisiana.
