Deployment Information
We welcome your interest in discerning a possible call to the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. We look forward to hearing from you. The Diocese of Mississippi has a number of clergy openings and we are seeking qualified and compatible clergy to serve in these congregations.
Most of our congregations are in dynamic, medium-sized cities. Most are pastoral-to-transitional sized congregations. However, we also have a variety of congregations and settings. If you are a retired priest and would like to serve a congregation part-time, we would also be interested in hearing from you.
The Diocese of Mississippi is a welcoming community with a history of gifted witness by our bishops along with committed clergy and lay leadership. We sees ourself as One Church in Mission: Inviting, Transforming and Reconciling. We seek clergy who embrace and embody this focus on mission. We do not see ourselves driven by issues, but as being driven by relationship: to God, to one another, and to those we invite and welcome into the fellowship of Christ's body, the Church.
We are seeking clergy who are bridge-builders; those who are able to find common ground in the Gospel with all sorts and conditions of people. We seek to be a church which looks outward, not focusing on internal issues to the detriment of the mission of the church.
If you believe that you are called to serve in this diocese, please contact us. It would be very helpful to receive the following:
- An up-to-date OTM Portfolio
- An up-to-date resume
As a routine part of our process, we will undertake preliminary reference checking on any potential candidate before sending the individual's name and material forward to a search committee. They include, but may not be limited to, contacting the Transition Minister and Bishop in the diocese of canonical residence. Full background checks are done on all finalists for positions in the Diocese of Mississippi.
Please communicate with our diocesan transition minister, the Reverend Canon Gary Meade, by e-mail. Include the requested documents as attachments to your e-mail.
