Men’s Retreat: Does God Have a Dream for You…Or Is Destiny Overrated?
October 7-9
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew at Chapel in the Cross in Madison is co-sponsoring this event for men, keynoted by the Rev. Patrick Gahan.
Fr. Gahan has served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army, and as a coach and teacher in both public and private schools; in his vocation as an Episcopal priest, he has marveled most at “how Christ does an extreme makeover on folks again and again.” In addition to being in conversation with Fr. Gahan, participants will enjoy good fellowship, good food, and the opportunity to relax and enjoy the outdoors at Gray Center. The cost is $165 for double occupancy, $150 for single occupancy, and $75 for commuters.
Silent Retreat: Who Are You, God, and Who Am I?
November 17-19
All are welcome – men and women, lay and clergy – to come away for a time of quiet solitude and community, led by the Rev. Susannah Grubbs Carr and the Rev. Richard Robbins. We will make a gracious space for reflection on our images of God, and under God’s loving gaze to receive God’s images of us. The cost is $210, single occupancy only.
Benedictine Spirituality: Benedict’s Sacred Reading
November 18-30
Led by the Rev. Alston Johnson, Rector of Chapel of the Cross in Madison, participants will explore Benedict’s Rule as a way of incorporating prayer, theology, and scriptural study into a spiritual discipline. The sacred reading of scripture becomes a roadmap for prayer, both for beginners and for those seasoned in religious life. Our time together will be both didactic and devotional. The cost is $95 for double occupancy, and $110 for single occupancy.
Knitting and Needlework in Advent: Choosing the Better Part
December 2-4
Mrs. Susan Nix and the Rev. Jennifer Deaton will again lead knitters and needleworkers of all threads and skill levels on an Advent journey of stitches, study, prayer, and fellowship. In Advent we long to be Mary, sitting at Jesus’ feet, but our lists are Martha-sized; we will reflect on choosing the better part. We will also have the opportunity to learn new skills through sharing of projects as well as optional workshops on Saturday. The cost is $170 for double occupancy, $185 for single occupancy, and $35 for Saturday’s workshops only.
