Three Mississippi seminarians were ordained to the diaconate on May 30th at St. Andrew’s Cathedral.
Jody Burnett, Carol Mead and Judy Morris were ordained by the Rt. Rev. Joe Burnett, Bishop of Nebraska.
Bishop Burnett officiated in the place of Bishop Gray III who is on sabbatical. Burnett, the father of Jody, served as a priest for 25 years in the Diocese of Mississippi before becoming the Professor of Pastoral Theology at Sewanee in 1999. Burnett was consecrated Bishop of Nebraska in 2003.
Carol Mead graduated from Yale Divinity School and has been assigned as curate at Resurrection, Starkville and Chaplain of Mississippi State University.
Judy Morris graduated from the School of Theology at Sewanee. She has been called to serve as curate at St. Peter’s by-the-Lake, Brandon.
Jody Burnett graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria and will remain there for the immediate future.
