Dear Friends:
For some time now the Executive Committee has been in discussions about the future direction of the Diocese of Mississippi. You will recall the mission statement which was launched in our joyous Tent Meeting at Gray Center on August 20, 2005. Our energy and attention were redirected in wake of Hurricane Katrina nine days later.
We are now preparing to reclaim that momentum.
We are seeking your response to various aspects our renewed vision. These include our Mission Statement, our Core Values, and our Vision Areas. The Mission Statement expresses our sense of call as a diocese. We express that sense of call in the statement, One Church in Mission: Inviting, Transforming and Reconciling. I want to know your thoughts on that Mission Statement.
We are also seeking your response to our identified Core Values – those things which animate what we do, drive our decisions, and make us who we are. They are value-neutral, neither good nor bad, but are those motives that have driven past decisions.
The Vision Areas are those five areas of ministry and mission from which our future decisions and priorities will emerge. These are grounded in our Mission Statement and expand on the basic concepts within it.
Clergy have already had an opportunity to complete a similar survey. We now want to know the broader diocese’s responses. I would invite you to click on the following link and it will take you directly to the survey:
