The Reverend Lonnie Herring died Friday afternoon, September 9, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
A private family service was held at Grace Church, Rosedale on Tuesday, Sept. 13th prior to a Requiem Eucharist at Calvary Church, Cleveland on Wednesday, Sept. 14th.
Lonnie was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 1996. He was a part of the first class of vocational deacons to be ordained in The Diocese of Mississippi. He served at Advent, Sumner; Grace, Rosedale; Calvary, Cleveland; and St. Paul’s, Hollandale, in addition to his longtime work at the State Penitentiary at Parchman.
We keep Lonnie’s wife, Cindy, and the Herring family in our prayers.
Rest eternal grant to him O Lord, and let Light Perpetual shine upon him.
