Special Session II, the final session for Camp Bratton Green’s summer programs, has been cancelled due to an unexpected outbreak of a fever-type virus during the just-completed session. Medical officials are saying that some of the cases are Type A Influenza. The upcoming Special Session, which is for mentally and physically-challenged adults, was cancelled out of an abundance of caution for campers’ and staff members’ wellbeing.
The illness was restricted to the camp and has had no impact on staff and visitors across the road at the Duncan M. Gray Conference Center.
During the most recent camp gathering, one or two early cases of a fever-like virus grew into multiple cases involving campers and staff as the session progressed toward the end of the week.
Staff members at Gray Center are now thoroughly cleaning the camp buildings and furnishings with bleach and disinfectant.
The next session of camp, known as Winter Solstice, is scheduled for late December.
