The Collect for Quiet Confidence. O God of peace, who taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Dear Friends,
I suspect you, like me, are paying close attention to the news and reports about the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi, and in some other parts of our country. The rise in cases coupled with statewide reporting issues have only added to the anxiety we all feel. In the last week, there’s been an alarming increase in cases particularly among young adults. All of this has captured the attention of nearly everyone. Please know that all COVID related reports, issues, and concerns remain central to my ongoing oversight of this crisis and its effect on our Church.
At this moment, I will not make a change to the guidelines and procedures issued in early June. I will be paying close attention to the situation, however, even while I am away next week for a short get-a-way, and will be ready to take action if needed.
This spike should serve as an important reminder to every one of the importance of following proper safety and mitigation procedures and guidelines. I have been so pleased by the attention our parishes have given to the use of facemasks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. It is imperative that we remain diligent and faithful to this effort! It is also imperative to remember to stay home if you might be sick or if you have any fear of being exposed to the virus.
Thank you for continuing to be the body of Christ in worship, whether online or in person. Thank you too for lifting up your hearts in love, concern, and prayer for all God’s people. Thank you also for your patience as we work to learn how to live our faith in the midst of this challenging time.
Peace to you,
Brian+
