Young Adults in the Diocese of Mississippi
The Episcopal Church in Mississippi is eager to welcome young adults into our common life and ministries. The Bishop's Vision Path makes ministries with people from post-Baby Boomer generations a top priority. We know that Christian churches have often raised invisible barriers that discouraged entry into the Christian life. On this page, you can take a look at some of the things we are doing to welcome you.
The Bishop's Mission Corps offers an intense monastic-type experience to young adults for forty days in the summer time. This is a chance to experience a life centered around prayer, service, and community.
Vocare is a weekend retreat experience for persons ages 19 to 29. Vocare is held twice a year at Gray Center Camp and Conference Center just north of Canton. The focus of these weekends is listening for God's call in all areas of your life in the company of people like you.
St. Alexis' Episcopal Church is located in downtown Jackson and was started in response to the Bishop's call for invitation of unchurched young adults into the Christian life. Open to people of any ages, St. Alexis' is youthful, informal, and welcoming, with a focus on ministry with young adults, spiritual growth, and social mission.
The Episcopal Church in Mississippi has made a major commitment to ministry to our college communities. We have active Episcopal groups at Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM, Jackson State, Millsaps, and Delta State. We are always interested in expanding our ministries to other campuses as well.
