Clergy Deployment
We welcome your interest in discerning a possible call to the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. We look forward to hearing from you.
The Diocese of Mississippi is a welcoming community with a history of gifted witness by our bishops along with committed clergy and lay leadership.
Mississippi has a wide variety of congregations, ranging from small, rural mission churches to large, resource size congregations in urban areas. We also are rebuilding six congregations on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The Diocese of Mississippi sees itself as One Church in Mission: Inviting, Transforming and Reconciling. We seek clergy who embrace and embody this focus on mission. We do not see ourselves driven by issues, but as being driven by relationship: to God, to one another, and to those we invite and welcome into the fellowship of Christ's body, the Church.
We are seeking clergy who are bridge-builders; those who are able to find common ground in the Gospel with all sorts and conditions of people. We seek to be a church which looks outward, not focusing on internal issues to the detriment of the mission of the church.
Congregations which are in transition or search processes are available by links on this page. Each congregational link includes the CDO Profile, the parish profile, and links to additional information about the individual community.
If you believe that you are called to serve in this diocese, please contact us. We will need from you the following:
- An up-to-date CDO Profile
- An up-to-date resume
- Completed responses to these questions
- A completed background check form
Please communicate with our diocesan deployment officer, the Reverend Canon David H. Johnson, by e-mail. Please include the requested documents as attachments to your e-mail. We are unable to respond in a timely way to standard mail or phone calls.
